โšก What is REACTION!?

๐Ÿงช

The Concept

You're mad scientists building chemical compounds and discovering explosive reactions. Unlike other card games, you discover what combinations do through actual experimentation!

๐Ÿƒ

Unique Mechanics

Fixed-order hands force adaptation over optimization. Discovery system means no two games play the same. Lead Researcher controls information flow.

๐Ÿงช How REACTION! Works

Six core mechanics create a unique chemistry discovery experience that feels like actual scientific experimentation.

1. Research Phase: Lead Researcher discovers one new reaction

2. Experiment Phase: Players must play their first card (marked with โ‘ )

3. Build Compounds: Same colors stack together for bigger reactions

4. Trigger Reactions: Different colors create explosive combinations!

5. Score Points: Both players benefit from successful reactions

6. Safety First: Neutralize dangerous compounds for Safety Points

1

Research Phase

Lead Researcher chooses one unknown reaction to discover. This controls the flow of information and creates strategic timing decisions about which discoveries benefit you most.

2

Fixed-Order Hands

You must play the first card in your hand each turn - no rearranging allowed! This creates adaptation challenges and prevents perfect optimization strategies.

3

Compound Building

Same-color cards stack to create more powerful compounds. Bigger compounds mean bigger explosions, but also become more attractive targets for opponents!

4

Reaction Discovery

When you play a different color on an opponent's compound, you discover what happens! Reactions are unknown until someone experiments with that combination.

5

Safety Points

Neutralizing opponent compounds gives you Safety Points, which count toward victory and can be spent on special abilities. Defensive play is viable and rewarding!

6

Chain Reactions

Some discoveries trigger cascading effects that can completely change the game state. One well-timed reaction can create explosive comebacks and dramatic reversals!

Strategy Commentary

๐ŸŽฌ Welcome to REACTION!
You're about to watch a complete game simulation showing all the key mechanics and strategies. Each player has different goals and abilities.
What to Watch: How discovery timing affects strategy, when to build vs attack, and how Safety Points create alternative victory paths.
๐Ÿ”ฌ Research Phase
Anna (Lead Researcher) must choose which unknown reaction to discover. This is a critical strategic decision!
Anna's Thinking: "I have Red and Blue cards. If Red+Blue is explosive, I can benefit immediately. Let me reveal it!"
โš—๏ธ First Moves
Players must play their first card. Anna starts building a red compound, while others establish their own territories.
Key Insight: Early game focuses on safe building. Players avoid triggering unknown reactions until they know what will happen.
๐Ÿ’ฅ First Explosion
Ben triggers the Red+Blue explosive reaction! Both players score points, but Ben gets a discovery bonus.
Scoring: Anna's compound (3+1+2=6 points) + Ben gets +3 discovery bonus = Ben scores 9, Anna scores 6.
๐Ÿ”„ Leadership Rotation
Ben becomes the new Lead Researcher and chooses to discover Red+Yellow reactions. Each player gets control in turn.
Strategy Tip: Use leadership to reveal reactions that benefit your current hand and position.
โ›“๏ธ Chain Reactions
Chain reactions create cascading effects! One reaction triggers another, leading to dramatic game state changes.
Excitement Factor: This unpredictability is what makes every game of REACTION! feel different and creates memorable moments.
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Safety Strategy
Clara uses neutralization to gain Safety Points and stop opponents' big plays. This defensive strategy is viable for victory!
Alternative Path: Safety Points count toward victory and provide powerful abilities. Defense can win games!
๐ŸŽฏ Endgame Strategy
As the game nears 75 points, players must balance risk and reward. Big plays can win or lose the game!
Final Calculation: Reaction Points + Safety Points = Total Score. Multiple paths to victory keep games exciting until the end.
๐Ÿ† Victory Analysis
Clara wins through smart defensive play and timely discoveries! See how Safety Points and strategic thinking overcame explosive plays.
Key Lesson: REACTION! rewards multiple strategies. Discovery timing, compound building, and safety management all matter.

โšก Why REACTION! is Special

Six unique innovations that separate REACTION! from every other card game on the market.

1

Genuine Discovery

Unlike other games where you memorize combinations, REACTION! creates authentic "aha!" moments as you experiment and discover new reactions through actual play.

2

Strategic Constraints

Fixed-order hands force creative adaptation rather than perfect optimization. You must work with what you have, creating meaningful decisions at every turn.

3

Balanced Interaction

Both players benefit from reactions, creating positive-sum gameplay where attacking opponents also helps yourself. No pure spite moves - every action has strategic value.

4

Viable Defense

Safety Points make neutralization rewarding, not just reactive. Defensive players can win through smart timing and resource management, not just by avoiding confrontation.

5

Dramatic Moments

Chain reactions create explosive turning points where one well-timed move can completely reverse the game state. Every game has potential for dramatic comebacks.

6

Rotating Power

Leadership passes between players, ensuring everyone gets moments of control over information flow. No permanent disadvantage from turn order or early luck.

โš–๏ธ How REACTION! Stands Apart

While other science-themed card games exist, REACTION! uniquely combines genuine discovery mechanics with strategic depth and accessibility.
